Pratt & Whitney in New Zealand

The Christchurch Engine Centre is a joint venture between Pratt & Whitney and Air New Zealand.
 
It was founded in 1948 by Air New Zealand. In 2001, the airline and Pratt & Whitney partnered to develop the joint venture, focusing on the maintenance, repair and overhaul of JT8D then V2500 engines. Today the facility is one of the world’s best-in-class centers performing maintenance, repair and overhaul work for the V2500® engine.

Offered through IAE International Aero Engines AG, the V2500 is designed to maximize time on wing, delivering best-in-class fuel consumption, noise and emissions. Powering some 2,800 of the Airbus A320ceo family of aircraft and serving over 150 operators, it supports the efficient operations of A320ceo passenger and cargo airlines around the world, including Air New Zealand.

Christchurch Engine Centre
The GTF engine already delivers the most efficient power for Airbus A320neo family aircraft. It lowers fuel consumption and carbon emissions up to 20% relative to previous generation aircraft and has a 75% smaller noise footprint. New maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities for the GTF engine expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
